icetana AI Gains Investment from SoftBank Robotics Group Corp.

Perth-based AI company icetana has secured a multi-million-dollar deal with Japanese SoftBank Robotics Group Corp. and its subsidiaries ("Softbank Robotics Group") — a move that will see Australian-developed software integrated into next-generation robots deployed across Japan.

The three-year deal marks icetana’s largest-ever international agreement and is a strong vote of confidence with the Australian company entering one of the world’s most advanced technology markets.

“Partnering with SoftBank Robotics Group is a major milestone for icetana AI,” said icetana CEO, Kevin Brown.
“SoftBank Robotics Group’s global leadership in AI and commercial scale in Japan create an ideal launchpad for our next phase of growth. This partnership not only accelerates our expansion into key markets but also integrates our technology into some of the world’s most advanced security platforms.”

Australian AI advances Japan’s next-gen robots

SoftBank Robotics Corp. will take icetana’s AI to market in Japan, where it will be added to SoftBank Robotics Corp.’s range of products and services such as cleaning, delivery and humanoid robots — already in use in shopping centres, hospitals and universities.

icetana’s software learns what’s ‘normal’ in a given environment and detects unusual activity — like crowds building, aggressive or erratic behaviour, unattended bags, or movement in restricted areas — in real time. By embedding this intelligence into robotic systems, the technology helps improve safety, reduce reliance on manual monitoring, and minimise the risk of human error in busy public spaces.

“We are excited to collaborate with icetana AI to bring cutting-edge video intelligence to our customers,” said SoftBank Robotics Group Corp., Chief Business Officer, Kenichi Yoshida.
“Their technology is a natural extension of our AI innovation strategy, and we look forward to driving growth together in Japan and beyond.”
